the fourth and last rebbe of Alexander in Poland; he perished in Treblinka
Son of Rabbi Shmuel Tzvi. He was born in 1880; he took the court after his father's death in 1923 and spread the Beit Yisrael yeshivas across Poland.
When the Germans came he left Alexander for Lodz, and from there for Warsaw, where he lived some two years in the ghetto. He was killed in Treblinka on 23 Elul. The year is given two ways—1942 and 1943; we set the first: the Hebrew registers and the testimonies give it, while those who give the second write 'apparently'. A witness who worked in the Warsaw workshops relates that the rebbe could not be taken off the transport, and that in the wagon he spoke words of Torah.
His teaching is gathered in the book Akedat Yitzchak. The court rose again only in Erets Yisrael.
