Atzei Chaim—Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Teitelbaum of Sighet עצי חיים — רבי חיים צבי טייטלבוים מסיגט
the fourth rebbe of Sighet; father of Rabbi Moshe, the Satmar Rebbe
The elder son of Rabbi Chananya Yom Tov Lipa. He took the rabbinate and court of Sighet in 1904; his younger brother, Rabbi Yoel, was then still a youth and later settled in Satmar.
The court. Under him Sighet remained the chief court of Maramureș: a yeshiva, a rabbinical court, thousands of chasidim. His talks were published as the Atzei Chaim.
Sons. He died young, on 6 Shevat 5686 (1926). Sighet was taken by his son Rabbi Yekusiel Yehuda, who perished in the Shoah; another son, Rabbi Moshe, survived, led Sighet in America, and in 1979 took Satmar after his uncle.
