Chelkat Mechokek—Rabbi Moshe Lima רבי משה לימא

the chief expositor of the marriage laws of the Shulchan Aruch

Rabbi of Brisk and Slonim, from 1650 head of the court of Vilna. A contemporary of the Shach; with the author of the Beit Shmuel he drew up a treatise on freeing agunot.

He wrote so densely that the printers had to add explanations; the work was published after his death, by his son, in 1670. The years of his life diverge: about 1615–1670 by one reading, 1605–1658 by another; we set the first and name the second.
