Gebiha of Be-Katil גביהא מבי כתיל
fourteen years at the head of Pumbedita, Rav Ashi's helper
By Rav Sherira Gaon's list he headed Pumbedita from 4179 to 4193 (419–433). He studied under Rav Aha bar Yaakov, Abaye and Rava—that is, he knew two generations. He lectured at the exilarch's residence, and Amemar carried his words to Rav Ashi (Beitzah 23a).
He must be distinguished from Gebiha of Argiza: the reference book notes expressly that the latter is wrongly reckoned among the savoraim, whereas he lived a century earlier.
