Rabbi Menachem Mendel Hager of Vishova רבי מנחם מנדל הגר מווישווא
the rebbe of Vishova; a son of the Ahavat Yisrael of Vizhnitz
Son of Rabbi Yisrael Hager of Vizhnitz, the Ahavat Yisrael. He was born in 1885. In 1910, in his father's lifetime, he was chosen rabbi of Vizhnitz; in 1925 he became head of the rabbinical court of Vishova in Maramures.
In Vishova he set up the Beit Yisrael yeshiva of more than four hundred students; he cared for its needs, but gave his main strength to the lessons and to examining the students. After his father's death in 1936 he was rebbe.
He died on 13 Tevet 1941, aged fifty-six, of an illness brought on by his labours. The further chain of Vishova is not traced by the sources we rely on.
