Serug שְׂרוּג

son of Reu, grandfather of Terach

"And Reu lived thirty-two years and begot Serug" (Bereshit 11:20).

A note on translation belongs here. The Hebrew says that after Nachor was born Serug lived two hundred years—מָאתַיִם שָׁנָה. The Russian translation on our own pages reads "three hundred"; we count by the Hebrew, and hence the year 2049.

He died when Abraham was already a grown man—great-grandfather and great-grandson lived side by side for a hundred and one years.
