Rabbi Shlomo Halberstam of Bobov רבי שלמה הלברשטאם מבאבוב

the grandson of the Divrei Chaim; founder of the Bobov court

The grandson of Rabbi Chaim of Sanz; he grew up with his grandfather and studied under him. He served as rabbi in several Galician towns, and in 1893 settled in Bobov.

A yeshiva at the court. He did what chasidic courts of the time almost never did: he set up a real yeshiva at the court, with a timetable and teachers, and called young men to it from all Galicia. The argument was the one the Rashab would use later in Lubavitch: without a school a court will not outlive a generation.

He died on 1 Tammuz 1905. His son took the court.
