Son of Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Teitelbaum, the Atzei Chaim, and nephew of Rabbi Yoel of Satmar. He was born in 1912 in Sighet.

He was killed on 25 Iyar 1944 in Auschwitz together with his wife and two children: they were taken with the first transport of the Sighet community. His surviving responsa came out later under the name Yad Yekutiel. The court in America was raised by his younger brother, Rabbi Moshe.
