rabbi and rebbe of Sokolow Podlaski; the fourth link of the Kotzk house
The son of Rabbi Chaim Yisrael and great-grandson of the Kotzker. He was born in Kotzk; the year of birth is given two ways—1864 and 1866.
From 1900 until his death he was rabbi of Sokolow Podlaski, where he set up a yeshiva of about a hundred and fifty students and a brick beit midrash; the court he took after his father's death. He sat on the Council of Torah Sages, was among the founders of the union of Polish rabbis, in 1910 went as a delegate to the rabbinical congress in St Petersburg, and in 1924 with the Council's delegation to Erets Yisrael.
About 1930, in sickness, he moved to Otwock. He died there on 3 Cheshvan 1939, six weeks after the war began, and is buried in Warsaw.
