Rabbi Jose bar Abin רבי יוסי בר אבין
the chief jurist of the last generation of the Land of Israel
Son of Abin I, an amora of the third generation; father of Samuel bar Jose bar Bun. He first studied under Rabbi Jose of Yodkart, then left him and became a student of Rabbi Asi.
In the Babylonian Talmud he is called Jose beRabbi Bun, in the Jerusalem Talmud Jose bar Abin; it is one name in two pronunciations. Mana and Jose bar Zevida dispute with him.
