the third rebbe of Slonim; author of the Beis Avraham
The son of Rabbi Shmuel of Slonim. He took the court during the First World War, in 1916, and led it for seventeen years.
The Beis Avraham. His talks, gathered under that name, the Slonim chasidim study to this day: on prayer as labour, on the chasid’s duty to be honest first of all with himself, on the joy of a mitzvah. Written plainly and sternly, as he spoke.
Jerusalem. In 1918, at his word, the Slonim chasidim opened the Beis Avraham yeshiva in Jerusalem; it survived the Shoah and became the home of the restored court.
He died in 1933; the court was taken by his son, Rabbi Shlomo David Yehoshua.
